3. General importance of housing demands for housing, Design of residential areas, housing problems in India.
4. Man and environment, traditional pattern and trends of change in Indian society, concept of social structure, culture and social institutions.
5. Basic economic principles and land use, economic rent, land use pattern and values.
6. Vital statistics and forecasting techniques, population projections.
7. Trends of urbanization in India.
8. Morphology of Indian cities and master plans, Master plan of Jaipur.
9. Role of models used in the Town Planning process.
10. Slums – Causes and effects, prevention of slum formation and resources for slum clearance programmers in India.
11. Role of financial institutions in Town Planning and development.
12. Non-governmental development organizations and their relationship with local government, citizen participation.
13. Role of G.I.S., G.P.S. with remote sensing in Town Planning, Data collection and analysis.
14. Role of Cartography & Digital mapping in Town Planning, study of different types of maps, Numbering of topographical maps.
15. Building bye-laws and development control rules in India.
