The official notice of the University Grant Commission has been issued today, on 11 May 2021, stating that ‘it has come to our notice that misinformation about the UGC guidelines for the examination has been published in some print and digital media. Guidelines were issued from time to time, usually during the last year on examinations and academics. Furthermore, the UGC notice reads, “In the UGC’s detailed letter dated 6 May 2021, universities have been requested not to continue the offline examinations during the month of May 2021.”
The UGC notice clarified that “in view of the Guideline proliferation in print and digital media, it has been clarified that the UGC has not recently issued any guidelines on the examination and this news is false”.
Earlier, the University Grant Commission issued a notice requesting all higher education institutions to avoid physical gatherings in the campus and provide much-needed relief to students and staff in the form of health and safety.
It was said in the media reports that according to the UGC guidelines, the students of the undergraduate first and second year will be promoted to the next class without examination. The examinations of final year students will be considered in the month of June. But this news is wrong. Till date UGC has not issued any such guideline this year.
