A collector is different from IAS as a collector is a part of IAS. One can be an IAS officer without being a collector but the reverse is not possible.

Eligibility

For a person to become an IAS officer, the below are the eligibility criteria:

  • Candidate must be a citizen of India, Nepal or a subject of Bhutan.
  • The candidate could be a Tibetan Refugee who came to India before January 1, 1962, to be settled permanently in India.
