CTET Exam 2020: Important Dates, Important Qualifications, Pattern

    The Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) is conducted twice a year by the Central Board of Secondary Education. This is a national level examination, after which the candidates become eligible to teach in Central Government schools. After passing it, candidates are appointed to teach in primary (first class to fifth grade) and secondary (sixth grade to eighth grade) classes. The exam is offline and the time limit for both papers is 150 minutes. The application for this is done online.

    Important dates

    • Notification for this exam was issued on 23 January 2020.
    • Forms were started filling on 24 January.
    • The last date of application was 9 March.
    • The test was scheduled to be held on 5 July 2020, but due to the increased transition of Covid-19, the dates have been extended.

    Skills required

    • Candidate should be a citizen of India.
    • The candidate must be at least 17 years old.
    • The candidate should have passed the 12th examination with at least 45% marks.
    • Candidate should have done a teacher training program/course.

    Paper pattern-
    There are two papers in the exam. Paper 1 is for the candidates teaching in the primary class, while Paper 2 is for the candidates teaching in the secondary classes. If you want, you can take part in both papers.

    Paper 1-

    • It is a multiple-choice paper. Its fixed time limit is 150 minutes.
    • 150 questions of one mark are asked in this paper.
    • There is no negative marking in the examination of the seat.
    • This paper is divided into five parts.
    • Child Development and Pedagogy, Language 1, Language 2, Mathematics, and Environmental Education.

    Paper 2-

    This paper is also multiple choice. It also asks 150 questions like Paper 1, which gets 150 minutes to solve.
    In this paper, questions related to Child Development and Education, Language 1, Language 2, Mathematics, and Social Studies are asked.
